I’m sher, sherri or you can refer to me as the solis redhead. Mind the spelling. Not like the old days of soulless redheads, born of cats and nasty in nature. That is simply not me at all!
I’m an author, a fitness freak, and a lover of life. A happy wife and mother and a pet-owner extraordinaire. Based on the magick realism of my fiction, you can bet there is a cat involved!
There is no group that i can thoroughly call my own, but i blend pretty well in most settings. This is why i love writing so much! DO you know what i mean? if you don’t, that is okay! i still encourage your interest to try and find out how this mind of mine works and processes to create such a vastly different style of writing!
And Now . . . 50 Random Facts About Me.
1 – Other than my husband, I have had the same best friend since 8th grade. Oh yeah, we have gotten into some humdinger fights over the years . . . not talked for awhile . . . but still going strong today! At this point, I am talking about both of them.
2 – The older my age, the greener my thumb . . . orchids, hydrangeas, three bonsai and, as of 2022, a pumpkin patch!
3 – The first real book phase I went through, unprompted by school, was self-improvement in my mid-twenties. Wayne Dyer was my favorite author, though I loved Thich Nhat Hanh too. May they both rest in peace!
4 – I have been an ACE-certified Personal Trainer since 2001.
5 – I loved the 80’s dance scene in downtown San Jose, CA.
6 – Some of the paranormal parts of MURDER UNDER REDWOOD MOON are based on my actual experiences.
7 – Fall is my favorite time of year with sunflowers, pumpkin bread and Halloween. But Christmas is a close 2nd.
8 – We have a 55-gallon, 5-gallon and a 15-gallon fish tank as well as two cats, two dogs, a turtle, three chickens including an early-rising rooster, and a herd of Arabian horses. I need to sell books just to feed our animals.
9 – Less than ten years ago, I could Leg Press twice my body weight and crescent-kick a person in the jaw . . . and I did.
10 – I woke up to a large red, scorpion on my bedroom floor when I was eight, thanks to Tony, my first feline . . . but I still walk around with no shoes on in the dark.
11 – In my late teens, I climbed halfway up the train trestle in Capitola, CA in 1 ½-inch pink pumps.
12 – I was driving to work at Cisco Systems, Inc. when the second plane hit the Twin Towers, and heard everything unfold in real time.
13 – My favorite crystals are labradorite and larimar. Black tourmaline and Moonstone are pretty great too. And Blue Calcite. And the goldstones…blue and gold…and…
14 – I have a collection of over ninety Barbies. This includes two OOAK created by my highly ARTistic son when he was in high school, and the Gold label Haunted Beauty line – Zombie Bride, Ghost, Vampire and Queen of the Dark Forest.
15 – I also collect Michael Parks artwork and freshly-minted coins that appeal to my tastes. The latter was inspired by my youngest who started his collection before me.
16 – My first car, a 1980 Ford Mustang, was a graduation gift from my father.
17 – I am taking a trip to Sedona for inspiration on book two of Arista’s adventures.
18 – I teach Yoga, Kickboxing and Dance Aerobics . . . I am talking – Soca, K-POP, Bhangra and Urban Dance . . . crazy, right?!
19 – I am six months from my black belt in Taekwondo, and it is possible it will stay that way forever. I also won Silver at the Santa Cruz Open in 2011, though not many participated – ha!
20 – I have a Bengal and a Siamese, and MURDER UNDER REDWOOD MOON is going to make the Siamese famous.
21 – I live on an Arabian Horse Ranch, thanks to my equestrian-minded husband. But now, my feet stay grounded since this back of mine cannot afford to be tossed from an impatient equine. So, my lovely ½ Arab and ½ Quarter Horse Palomino, Summer, gets ridden by my friend’s daughter.
22 – A few of our horses have been painted by the very talented and renowned artist, Shannon Ford, and put on display at different galleries throughout British Columbia, Canada
23 – In high school, I never understood why most football players were such d*cks, until my son played from 6th – Senior Year. It turns out they are exhausted and cranky from – brutal workouts plus practice, the jaded indifference from their coaches and a lack of sleep to accommodate school projects.
24 – I had a White Ford Bronco when OJ . . . allegedly . . . did his deed. When a group of kids threw rocks at me driving by yelling ‘OJ Sucks’,
I traded it in for an Infiniti M30.
25 – Texas is my birth state. Then I moved to Cali when I was nine.
26 – I had the thickest southern drawl that you could imagine which made me a laughing-stock amongst my peers.
27 – I, unknowingly, griped at Ron White’s girlfriend for taking my seat at the venue he was playing. After I apologized, they bought us drinks. Somewhere he probably made a big joke of it.
28 – I have had four years of French and, STILL, I am not fluent.
29 – Huge GOT fan and LOTR is a close 2nd. Thereafter, I’d say arthouse witch movies, anything directed by Quentin Tarantino or Guy Ritchie, 80’s The Lost Boys, Burn After Reading, This is 40, and . . . hmmm . . . Monsters, Inc.
30 – Every fall a procession of tarantulas grace our backyard . . . at least eight sightings. and the black widows are even more prevalent!

32 – I love the NorCal Renaissance Faire. In 2021, I went as a pirate.
33 – Best cookie: Dark Chocolate Chip, cherry and pecan made with half brown sugar an half coconut sugar.
34 – Best cocktail: Not too often, but when I do . . . I’ll take two! Ginger Mule or Blackberry Mojito
35 – Best beverage: Hot Tea . . . Almost any flavor will do at its appropriate time . . . this cup had Republic of Tea Blueberry Lavender.
36 – I Love Stand-Up Comedy. Kevin Hart, Bill Burr, Jerry Seinfeld, Sebastian Maniscalco, Dave Chappelle, Ron White And Chris Rock Are The Ones That Come To Mind. Laughing Is Superbly Good For Mental Health.

38 – I am an anxious person half the time. The other half is just caffeine in the form of Sambazon or a delicious green tea infused with blueberries, ginger or tropical flavors.

40 – I can still do a backbend . . . briefly.
41 – My phases of music were Rolling Stones in high school, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi in the late teens, The Judds in my early-twenties, Enya throughout her whole career and now I just listen to Chill on Sirius, all the time.
42 – I was addicted to Angry Birds for six months when it first came out.
43 – I . . . We . . . have been married almost thirty years.
44 – Pro-law enforcement, but damn, I wish they would weed out the bad ones!
45 – Three friends and I will dress up in inflatable dinosaur costumes and rove around downtown San Jose in Fall 2022. This will be an epic riot!
46 – My first job was at sixteen in Baskin Robbins. I had an ice cream every night I worked. I cannot imagine that my metabolism would handle that load so efficiently at this age.
47 – I lived in California over twenty years before I went to Tahoe, and thirty-five before I went to Napa.
48 – I like to make up my own words.
49 – I think I enjoyed the Baby Einstein videos more than my children did!
50 – While I love writing and fitness, my favorite job will always and forever be that of a mother….and my kids, who are now young men, will always come first, even though I am mentioning them last! Husband nudged me…him too! 😉
